Help Kids Go Back-to-School Prepared

School is out for summer. In June, summer is back-to-school season at Metrocrest Social Services. Now through August 1 we are collecting school supplies to start all students on equal footing.

You and Metrocrest Social Services can help students start school off with tools for their success. New this year, we are asking groups to build “Back-to-School Kits” by grade level. Click here to download the flier. Select a list, gather all the items into one bag and staple the list to the outside of the bag. Create one kit or several. Drop off at The Gravley Center, 1111 W. Belt Line Rd., Carrollton, TX by August 1.

Relocation Update

After 24 years on the corner of Belt Line Road and Broadway Road, Metrocrest Social Services (MSS) will be relocating.

We are pleased to report that the City of Carrollton has graciouslly extended our lease to December 31, 2010. An estimated $250,000 will be needed for MSS to relocate to larger facilities and expand existing services. Excitement is building as this is the largest campaign in the history of the agency. The “Challenge 2010: Growing to Impact Lives” campaign has raised more than $119,000. The 100% participation of board and staff of Metrocrest Social Services helped launch the campaign in September.

“We invite the entire community to get behind us for this ‘one time, big time’ opportunity for MSS to grow. Much is planned for our new location such as a larger food pantry and more computers for the Employment Assistance program. We plan to sign an extended lease so that we can continue to serve families in need for years to come,” explains Bunny Summerlin, Executive Director.
