NEW Summer Lunch Box Program
Provides 300 Kids a Nutritious Lunch

We are happy to announce a new Summer Lunch Box program offered through Metrocrest Social Services, the North Texas Food Bank and Holy Covenant United Methodist Church—and—located in local neighborhoods!

The Summer Lunch Box program launched on June 8 at three locations and continues until August 21.  Five days a week the nutritious meals provided by the North Texas Food Bank are distributed by volunteers from Holy Covenant Church to children ages 3-18.

A Holy Covenant UMC volunteer reflected, "With several teachers among the ranks of our volunteers, one was met with a hug from a past student coming to pick up a lunch for her and her siblings. It touches us all."

This is a pilot program at Davis and Furneaux Elementary schools and the surrounding neighborhoods and we look forward to expanding it next year.  It's certainly a wonderful opportunity to impact the lives of many.

Employment Assistance Program
is BOOMING!

During these difficult economic times, finding a job can be a tedious task.  Our staff and volunteers with our Employment Assistance Program make the job search a little easier.  The MSS computer lab has six workstations  for job searching and we also can provide gasoline gift cards, bus passes, interview clothing, haircuts, and more.  These past few months the Employment Assistance area has been booming...and what a great resource to our community.  Click here to read about Jeff's story (pictured right with Adrian Ramirez, MSS Employment Assistance Coordinator).
