photoWho We Are

More Than Support —
Your Community Resource

Metrocrest Social Services assists families in solving their immediate crisis and assisting them in making plans for the future.

Individuals naturally strive to support themselves and their families, however, situations arise where many are unable to provide for basic needs or to accumulate funds for unexpected expenses.

Preventing Homelessness in the Community

Metrocrest Social Services stands ready to help families through their emergencies and to plan for a more secure future. Through our assistance with rent, utility payments, food, clothing, medical prescriptions, and more, we truly prevent families from being homeless. Our Employment Program provides individuals with support for a successful work search in the form of resume assistance and individual job leads, gasoline vouchers and bus passes. In addition we have programs to assist families in successfully managing financially stressful seasons.

In FY 2009, a total of 11,797 individuals received assistance. Individuals naturally strive to provide for themselves and their families. In times of crisis, Metrocrest Social Services is here to help them.

Our Mission

The mission of Metrocrest Social Services is to provide emergency assistance and comprehensive programs to move families toward self-sufficiency; serving residents of Carrollton, Farmers Branch, Addison, Coppell and ZIP Code 75287 in Denton County.

Our History

First known as “TRUTH House” (Through Real Understanding To Help), Metrocrest Social Services celebrates a rich, 39-year history of service to people in need.

From its humble beginnings on Bee Street in Farmers Branch where it served as a “crash pad” for teenagers having problems, to its current location in the Gravley Center at the edge of Old Downtown Carrollton, this program has truly been Neighbors Helping Neighbors.

Since 2001, Bunny Summerlin has served as Executive Director of Metrocrest Social Services, overseeing services and programs.
