Metrocrest Social Services is a non-profit, 501(c) (3) United Way community partner which has served the Metrocrest area (Carrollton, Farmers Branch, Addison, Coppell, and Zip Code 75287 in Denton County) for 39 years.

Donations for Special Programs

Back-to School Program

Back-to-school time can be stressful for families who don’t make enough money to purchase groceries and pay the rent and can’t afford school shoes and supplies. Our Back-to-School programs allow children to feel proud to walk into school that first day, filled with hope for a great school year!

School Supplies

Each year, Metrocrest Social Services collects new school supplies for area children who cannot afford a new backpack or the supplies they need to start the school year off right. Donations of new school supplies are collected July through August. Click here for a list of needed supplies

Holiday Programs

Metrocrest Social Services strives to improve the quality of clients’ lives through special holiday programs which offer food and gifts that clients cannot otherwise be able to afford. Our holiday program allows parents the opportunity to choose food and gifts for each family member without having to pay; in this way, children don’t know that they’ve received donated gifts, and parents maintain their dignity by being able to provide for their families during the holidays.

Whether it’s a cash donation, a sofa for the Metrocrest Thrift Store, clothing that will benefit a job seeker, food for our food pantry, or gifts for needy children during the holidays, your donation improves the lives of our clients and their families. There are many ways to donate to Metrocrest.

Monetary Donations

Food Pantry Donations

Food donations are always needed for our food pantry. Donations may be dropped off in person at 1111 W. Belt Line, Carrollton, TX 75006. A receipt for your donation will be provided for tax purposes.

We are proud to participate in church, corporate, and civic food drives throughout the year. We can provide handouts, boxes, and other supplies to promote your food drive. In addition, we can arrange for a pickup of the food items at the end of the drive.

Thrift Store Donations

The Metrocrest Thrift Store furnishes clothing and furniture at no cost to families facing emergencies. The revenues generated by Thrift Store sales help support the agency and its mission to serve families in need. Replacing your dining room furniture, bedroom furniture, or living room furniture?  Donate the gently used items to the Metrocrest Thrift Store. With two trucks now available to help with pick ups, there’s no telling how quickly our driver and truck can arrive at your place to move it on out! 

We accept donations of useable furniture and household items, wearable clothing, and items of value to be sold in the Thrift Store. At this time, we are not able to accept used computers and computer components, ovens and dishwashers, and any non-working appliances.

Another revenue source is the Thrift Store’s ability to sell items on e-Bay. Your donation of unique, collectible, or antique items of value are greatly appreciated.

Garage Sale Donations Guidelines

The Metrocrest Thrift Store works with individuals and organizations to pick up donations after garage and rummage sales. Please note the following guidelines:

• It is essential to schedule pick-up of donations from garage sales as far in advance as possible. Our agency truck is scheduled on a “first-scheduled, first-served” basis; on weekends and during busy times of the year, we may decline to pick up donations if the truck schedule is full. Please call 972-418-1900 to schedule a pick-up.

• Items to be donated must be boxed up and ready to go; due to tight scheduling demands, our drivers can only take items that are boxed and ready when the driver arrives.

• We accept donations of useable furniture and household items, wearable clothing, and items of value to be sold in the Thrift Store. At this time, we are not able to accept used computers and computer components, ovens and dishwashers, and any non-working appliances.

• Thrift Store volunteers may choose to not to accept all items.

Your donation to the Metrocrest Thrift Store is tax-deductible and a receipt will be provided. Revenues from the Metrocrest Thrift Sore support day-to-day operations of Metrocrest Social Services and our goal to prevent homelessness and improve lives of those in our community.
